About the Directors:
Katherine Frank earned a B.A. from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle. Katherine is an Associate Professor of English and the Chairperson of the English and Foreign Languages Department at Colorado State University-Pueblo. This will be her eighth year directing the site and serving as the “primary investigator” for the grant work of the Southern Colorado Writing Project. IN addition to her work for the site, Katherine remains committed to ensuring quality professional development opportunities are made possible for the districts and the teachers of our region. “It is an honor and wonderful opportunity to be affiliated with an organization that is committed to teachers and their efforts within the classroom.”
Donna Souder earned a B.S. in English and History and an M.A. in English from Texas A&M University-Texarkana. She completed her Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Texas Woman’s University in Denton. Donna is an Assistant Professor of English, the Director of Writing, and the coordinator of the English Program’s Study Abroad at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Donna spent three years as a public school teacher, and 2010 will mark her third year at the university. Donna is delighted to accept the new role as site Director, and she looks forward to bringing her years of experience working with the East Texas Writing Project and the Texas State Network to the growth of the Southern Colorado Writing Project. “I am excited to be a part of this amazing site! Being a part of the SCWP leadership team will allow me to serve the university, our regional school districts, and support the work of so many teachers.”
About the Co-Directors:
Jason Saphara spent four years in the United States Marine Corps before becoming an English Major at Colorado State University -Pueblo and later attending graduate school at Kansas State. He currently teaches composition, American Literature, and World Literature courses at Colorado State University – Pueblo.
Anne Warren earned a B.A. from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and an M.A.T. from Colorado College. She began her career teaching 5th grade in Academy District 20, followed by 7 years teaching with Pueblo City Schools. She currently teaches 4th grade on the Army post of Ft. Carson.
About the Technology Coordinator:
Bryan Salagovic has been teaching Language Arts since 2003, starting his career at Jefferson Middle School in Rocky Ford before transferring to Pueblo District 60 in Pueblo. He is currently teaching at Eagleview Middle School in Academy District 20. He graduated from Colorado State University – Pueblo in 2003 with a B.A. in English and a minor in professional writing, and completed his Master’s in Educational technology through the University of Northern Colorado in 2010. As Technology Liaison, Bryan is excited to help instructors bridge the gaps among technology, communication, and their curriculum.
